About Me

Dr Graham Kelly founded Novogen Ltd in 1994 following a 25-year career in medical research, mainly in the field of organ transplantation. The increased incidence of cancer in organ transplant recipients led eventually to a major research interest in the process of carcinogenesis, particularly as it related to the use of immunosuppressive drugs.

Exposure to the world of cancer statistics eventually developed into a fascination with the epidemiology of cancer, and in particular the link between the so-called ‘Western’ cancers (breast, uterus, ovary, prostate, large bowel) with lifestyle factors, particularly diet.

In due course, the link between high levels of dietary isoflavones and a lower incidence of the ‘Western’ cancers led to the first patent (PCT) being applied for in 1992 on the health benefits of dietary isoflavones, being subsequently awarded to the author.

Novogen was founded mainly on the concept that naturally-occurring isoflavones play a key role in homeostasis in the body, helping to regulate a range of biological functions including steroidal sex hormone function and carcinogenesis. A key objective was to build on this natural phenomenon in a classic pharmaceutical way to create drugs with infinitely more potency and greater diversity of function than the naturally-occurring chemicals.

From 1994-2006, the author was responsible for overseeing the progress of the Company’s R&D programs, first as CEO and then as Chairman.

The author left the Company in 2006 and no longer is associated with it in any executive capacity.
